About the Blog

The idea for Tiny Science grew out of this article by Erin Podolak in the journal BioTechniques.  This article claims that the general public seems to respect science as an abstract whole, but lacks respect for (and understanding of) scientific findings.  The reason for this may be that scientists have a problem communicating their findings to the public and perhaps if scientists crawl out of their shells and talk to people about their science in an accessible way, understanding and acceptance will increase.

I share the view that understanding of science is low and that this needs to change.  I want this blog to be a place where scientists and non-scientists can come for explanations and discussions of scientific findings.  Whenever possible I will link to the raw data so readers can judge and think for themselves.
